For Arya Singh, a NEET-UG 2026 aspirant from Kanpur, the days leading up to the declaration of results were hopeful. According to him, that hope turned to confusion and disbelief when he saw several changes in his OMR paper and final score. His claims, which he shared via video on X and supported by photos and documents he allegedly gave to authorities, have now attracted a lot of attention online.The National Testing Agency (NTA) has not publicly responded to Arya’s claims at this time. The OMR list was prepared, but the controversy did not end
According to Arya, the issue started on the night of July 13, when NTA made the OMR sheets available on its official website. After downloading his OMR paper, he said he immediately noticed that the sequence of questions did not match the paper he had attempted.In a video posted on X, Arya said she compared her answers and counted 609. She then submitted the challenge through the official NTA portal, reporting what she described as consecutive errors.According to him, NTA also updated the OMR paper on the website, and improved the sequence of questions. He says that after correcting it, his reading scores continued to stand at 609, which gives him confidence that the issue was resolved before the results were announced.
‘In two hours, my score doubled’
Arya says things changed a lot the day the results were announced.According to him, the first card he got shows 540 points. He says that within the next two hours, the score changed again, this time to 167, which is what is shown on the official website.In the video, Arya said, “I looked at my prepared OMR sheet and my score was 609. On the next day, I started seeing 540 marks, and then within two hours it was 167. I have all the drawings, my prepared OMR sheet and every document. I want my results to be verified fairly.”The results shown against his work, according to the articles mentioned in the media, are 167 marks, equal to the All India Rank of 12,52,036 and a group of 3,67,585.
Complaints have been sent to the PM, Minister of Education and NTA
According to media reports, this was Arya’s second attempt at NEET-UG, after appearing in the exam again in 2025.He is said to have sent his complaint, along with photographs, OMR sheets and other supporting documents, to the Prime Minister, the Union Education Ministry and NTA officials. Through his video appeal, he has asked the authorities to verify his case and review the documents before finalizing it.The video has been widely shared on social media, with users questioning the statement and asking for clarification.
Why are such complaints meaningful?
Arya Singh’s allegations came to light at a time when the NEET-UG 2026 examination is already showing massive scrutiny of OMR papers and complaints about the results. The NTA has recently said that investigations into some cases have found AI-generated or tampered OMR sheets and warned that fake notes could invite prosecution. At the same time, candidates from different parts of the country continue to approach the board with complaints which they say are supported by official documents, photographs and downloaded OMR sheets. Whether these claims are found to be valid or not, every complaint is related to the high-stakes exam that ensures admission to medical colleges for lakhs of students. For this reason, any unsolved case is important and it also highlights the need for long-term and transparent action from the examination authorities.
