The Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) is expecting the release of the NEET UG 2026 counseling schedule soon on the official website, net.nta.ac.in. These top medical aspirants want to become MBBS or BDS doctors in a government hospital or college, so they need an admission letter. Apart from AIQ, 15% of the total seats, counseling will be done in government medical and dental colleges, recognized universities, central universities, ESIC medical colleges, AFMC, etc. Government officials have reserved the remaining 85% seats in the State for consultation.We expect candidates to apply through the website, select and complete their preferences for colleges and courses, and follow the seat allocation process, which depends on the candidate’s field, seat availability, and reservation process.

Candidates who have been offered seats must report to their respective schools within the prescribed limits to ensure acceptance.Applicants must register online, select their preferred colleges and courses, and then close their selections. Allotment of seats will be done based on their NEET UG 2026 rank, category, availability of seats, and reservation policy. Candidates who have been allotted a seat will get it only if they visit the place concerned within the time prescribed by the official rules as a confirmation of their acceptance.
Counseling schedule is pending
It is understood that MCC is yet to release the proper counseling calendar, but MCC will probably publish the full schedule soon. Candidates are encouraged to check the website regularly for details on registration, optional filling, seat allotment, and reporting dates.
Seat matrix of NEET UG 2026
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has shared the matrix for the MBBS seat ahead of the medical counseling for the academic year 2026-27. According to the latest information, a total of 136,939 MBBS seats will be available across the country, of which 63,296 are government seats and 73,643 are college seats.It is an overall increase of about 1,022 seats from last year, giving medical students more opportunities to enroll in various medical colleges. The seat does not include Institutes of National Importance (INIs) such as AIIMS, JIPMER, and PGIMER, which host candidates through their various channels.
NEET UG counseling process
MCC’s counseling process is usually fixed in terms of seat allotment, adding random visits if seats are still available.MCC advice includes the following:
- The cost of the consultation is to register and pay online
- Full selection and closing of preferred colleges and courses
- Distribution of seat candidates by NEET category, reservation policy, and availability
- Conducting document verification and approval
- Participation in the follow-up process if the candidate is eligible
The candidates must keep all the documents required for verification, for example, NEET UG 2026 card, admit card, Class 10 and 12 certificate, identity proof, group certificate (if applicable), passport size photographs, etc.
Who can participate?
Those who qualify the NEET UG 2026 examination and fulfill the eligibility criteria decided by MCC and the participating institutions are expected to join the counseling. Admission of candidates will be based on eligibility, reservation rules, availability of seats, and preferences of the candidates who give preference to the candidates.
