NEET-UG 2026 OMR line: Candidate wants fresh confirmation after stating that reply is inconsistent
New Delhi: The controversy over the NEET UG 2026 OMR pages continues to attract attention, with one alleging that the answers given by the National Testing Agency (NTA) do not reflect the answers they wrote in the exam. After contacting the agency and receiving an official response, the candidate says his concerns are not over and he has now gone to the media, sharing emails, OMR sheets and supporting documents.TOI Education has reviewed the correspondence the person wrote with the NTA, including the OMR sheets shared with him, the email he sought to verify and the agency’s response. The case has come amid several complaints from aspirants and OMR review after the declaration of NEET-UG 2026 results.
Supporters say that the two OMR papers raise different concerns
Bhavya, who appeared at the examination center of Sarvodaya Vidyalaya (Jose Marti), RK Puram, Delhi, says that the first scanned OMR paper that she found on the official website was not displayed and seemed to show all the questions in the attempt. According to him, the quality of the scanner was much lower than that shared by the respondents, which makes it difficult to verify the answers.In her email to the NTA, Bhavya said the answers shown on the recorded OMR did not match the answers she remembered clearly while writing the exam. He also said that the document appeared to be inconsistent, saying that some of the blogs being answered appeared to be progressive while others appeared to be “correct”. He asked for the verification of the original OMR paper and restored access to his website, which he said later displayed an “Invalid Information” message.The candidate also wrote that he wanted to see his original OMR sheet and requested the board to compare it with the version captured on the page. They also conducted research on what they believed could be errors in analysis, processing or upgrading.
NTA shares information about groups, alerts
In response to the candidate, the NTA told him that, according to the analysis of his OMR sheet, he had 85 correct answers, 93 incorrect answers and a total score of 247. The agency said that his scorecard had already been published on the official website and sent an email to him.The response also warned that “tampering with your downloaded OMR paper will result in prosecution under the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.”
The candidate says the concerns cannot be resolved
According to Bhavya, the board later shared the clear details of the OMR paper. However, he says this document no longer matches the answers he remembers writing in the exam.It is said that while they attempted all 180 questions, the updated OMR shows 178 questions were attempted. More importantly, he confirms that none of the two OMR sheets shared with him match the answers he wrote in the exam hall.Following the NTA’s response, the candidate reportedly also requested access to what he described as his original OMR paper. According to him, he did not get the confirmation he wanted and now he is going to the media after being fed up with the existing complaint process.
Questions about how to handle complaints are ongoing
Bhavya’s complaint is among several raised by NEET-UG 2026 after the OMR window ended. In recent days, candidates from different parts of the country have reported irregularities involving the OMR sheets, answer keys and calculations. The NTA also said that investigations into some complaints had found AI-generated or tampered documents and warned that fake OMR sheets could invite prosecution.At the same time, some candidates continue to say that their complaints are related to real concerns and that they have gone to the examination authorities with supporting documents, emails and documents that they have downloaded. As such cases come to light, attention is moving beyond the investigation itself to the complaint response process. For candidates whose clinical acceptance depends on a single test, getting a clear, timely and clear answer to their symptoms remains as important as it is routine.
