New Delhi: The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) for medical admissions will be completely shifted to Computer-Based Test (CBT) from 2027, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has said. The amendment will eliminate the use of pen-and-paper OMR forms for medical entrance examinations.The ministry said the decision was taken to strengthen the examination process and to address concerns about security and transparency. He also said that the investigating agencies will continue to examine the errors associated with the examination and those who will be found guilty should be dealt with.OMR sheets to replace NEET 2027Announcing the change in the exam, Pradhan said, “Agale saal se NEET UG pariksha computer-based hogi, jo mool jad hai OMR wo nahi rahega,” indicating that the OMR-based system will not continue from the 2027 exam.With this variation of CBT, candidates answer the questions through a computer instead of writing answers on answer sheets. However, the existing exam system will remain unchanged. NEET UG will continue to have 720 marks, with questions from Physics, Chemistry and Biology.Those who want to change the planning processThe change in the practice test will require candidates to be familiar with digital measurement platforms. Candidates preparing for NEET 2027 will need to practice the online practice test to improve speed, accuracy and familiarity with the online test environment.The change is expected to bring about a change in the way students conduct exams, as screen-based exams will replace OMR-based preparation methods.The minister says that the CBI probe will examine the irregularitiesSpeaking on the problems related to the examination, the education minister said that the investigation will continue and no one can do anything wrong.“The CBI will go deep and no one will be spared this time. Last time and no one was spared, but now I said that even after fulfilling the Radhakrishnan Committee, the incident has happened,” said Pradhan.The Minister’s statement will refer to the evaluation that is being carried out on changing the test and the way to answer the questions following the concerns that have been related to the conduct of the national entrance examination.The government is focusing on security in examsThe change to the standard computer interface is part of efforts to improve testing and improve security. The government took action through committees and investigations to address concerns about the administration of the examination.NEET UG is one of the largest entrance exams in India, conducted every year for admission to postgraduate medical programs across the country.
