Starting July 16, colleges and universities across the country will begin hosting a new youth engagement program that combines two ideas that the government has been pushing together: building a prosperous India by 2047 and tackling drug abuse among youth.The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, through Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), launched the Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect Program (VBYCP) from July 16 to August 15 under the theme ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat’.The month-long campaign will be held in higher education institutions and will focus on student engagement through discussions, awareness sessions and digital participation on the MY Bharat platform.
A school based campaign
The program targets young people between the ages of 15 and 25, including students from rural, urban and tribal backgrounds.Instead of relying on education alone, the campaign plans to bring youth leaders into classrooms and schools to talk directly to students about drug use and community involvement.The government said the idea is to encourage the youth to see a drug-free society as part of the mission to achieve Viksit Bharat@2047, the global vision of making India a prosperous nation by the centenary of independence.
Youth portraits to lead awareness sessions
A major part of the campaign will be interviewing young people who have achieved success from various government agencies.These include State Champions of the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue (VBYLD), winners of the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament, National Service Scheme (NSS) Awardees, National Youth Awardees and other youth leaders.He will visit educational institutions to talk about India’s development journey while discussing how drug use can affect education, career and long-term ambitions.
Awareness films and the pledge to stop drugs
Students who will attend the conference will also watch a film about drug abuse, which contains the experiences of people and families who have been affected.The meetings will conclude with the participants taking part in the Nasha Mukt Bharat Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to preventing drug addiction and contributing to the development of the country.Wherever possible, the program will also include interaction with veterans in recovery in collaboration with non-governmental organizations and spiritual organizations, allowing participants to hear first-hand stories of recovery from addiction.

The campaign is also expected to work as a way to reach out to MY Bharat itself.Guidance desks will be set up in the participating institutions so that students can register on the MY Bharat Portal and learn about the youth development programs being implemented by the institution.The ministry said billboards, billboards and digital media will also be used to increase participation in the month-long campaign.
What happens after the campaign?
This program is not designed as a one-time event.Participating educational institutions can set up My Bharat Themes after the campaign, allowing future youth events to continue on campus.All registrations and transactions related to the program will be done through MY Bharat Portal.The project adds another dimension to the government’s outreach efforts at the school.
