In a note posted on Instagram, Muzammil clarified that the clip being circulated as “new claims” was in fact from an interview recorded over a year ago, adding that he has always spoken of Deepika with respect, even as old statements resurfaced. He wrote: “The interview being discussed and wrongly titled ‘new claims’ was recorded over a year ago. What is currently being distributed are some moments from a much longer conversation.” The hesitation, context, and respect with which certain topics were discussed is often lost in the editing process and when snippets are viewed in isolation.” He noted that the nuance of the original conversation had been lost in the way the clips were shared.“I’ve always tried to talk about people from my past with respect, and that hasn’t changed. Like many others, I’ve spent years focused on building my work and my life, and that’s where I hope the conversation ends. I keep talking honestly, and I keep it respectful. – Muzammil Ibrahim,” concluded the actor.

The clip is from Muzammil’s June 2025 interview with Siddharth Kanan, where he spoke, somewhat hesitantly, about his relationship with Deepika. In the viral part, he said, “She (proposed me first). I dumped her. No, I never regret dumping anyone. Main sakth launda hoon bhai. (I’m a tough guy bro). I was a star at the time; she wasn’t. She was a model. Now he’s a superstar; nobody knows me, I’m a huge fan.” He also said that he was the first person Deepika met in Mumbai and her first serious boyfriend.
