Michael Johnston has responded to the possibility of a sequel to the horror film ‘Obsession’, stating that although it was a huge success at the box office, there are no plans for one. The 30-year-old actor talked about returning to the film, but acknowledged the difficulties of repeating it.Johnston recently reflected on the film’s unexpected success and discussed the future direction of the franchise. While he expressed openness to the idea of returning, he made his current position clear to the public. “Look, it’s a magical world. Anything can happen. I’d love to. I’ll say there’s no plan for it. Michael Johnston expressed particular enthusiasm for Barker’s proposed direction for the franchise. “Curry’s idea of it being an anthology series is really, really cool. All different stories. Johnston also revealed that audiences almost witnessed a substantially different conclusion to the film. “There are a couple of different moments that we played around with. The big one would be…Nikki is about to make up her mind at the end. The first thing we did was actually shoot the gun and the blood splatter. It was practical, it was so gruesome and it was devastating,” he described of the original filmed version.That darker version, in which Nikki perishes, was eventually abandoned in favor of the ending shown in the final released film, in which Nikki survives. Johnston revealed that Navarrette’s emotionally powerful performance in the film’s final scene was achieved in a single take, demonstrating the actress’ commitment to the material and the filmmakers’ satisfaction with her work.
