Veteran Malayalam actor Mammootty has expressed his support for the ongoing student protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. The actor has shared a message on social networks, urging the authorities to pay attention to the concerns raised by the youth.
Mammootty shares a message of support for students
Taking to Facebook, Mammootty spoke about the importance of the younger generation and appealed for their voices to be heard. He stressed that the future of the country depends on the empowerment of its young people.He wrote: “Youth are the true treasure of our nation. Hear their voices. Protect them. Empower them.”
Dulquer Salmaan and other Malayalam actors joined the movement
Mammootty is not the only Malayalam actor to speak on the issue. Earlier, his son Dulquer Salmaan also supported the students participating in the protest.Several other well-known actors from the Malayalam film industry have also expressed their solidarity with the movement. The list includes Kunchacko Boban, Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, Kalidas Jayaram, Joju George, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Rima Kallingal and more.
Kamal Haasan calls for reforms in education
Actor and politician Kamal Haasan also shared a detailed statement about the ongoing protest. He criticized the current education system and said students’ concerns should have been addressed much earlier.Kamal wrote: “We should have listened when a child cried. Instead, we waited until many of our children died. A system where training replaces learning, anxiety replaces curiosity and criminality replaces merit is rotten. A nation has failed when its children meet barricades and clubs instead of answers.”
Kamal Haasan appeals to Sonam Wangchuk
Apart from expressing his solidarity with the students, Kamal Haasan also addressed social activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has been observing a fast. He appealed to Wangchuk to end his hunger strike, saying the country would continue to need his guidance in the future.He added: “@Wangchuk66, the nation will need your conscience for the journey ahead. Please end your fast. To the children of India: You are the best of us. You have done your duty. Now is the time for the country to do its duty with you.
