The chief medical examiner’s office in Maryland determined the official cause of death to be multiple blunt force injuries from the car crash, according to Deadline. The actress was a passenger in the speeding car that crashed into a ditch around 3am on July 21, 2026. The 19-year-old driver is believed to have survived with non-life-threatening injuries after being taken to hospital. Additionally, another passenger refused medical treatment at the scene. Hottle was taken to the nearest trauma center, where she was pronounced dead. The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit has not yet investigated the cause of the crash.
