Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) has released the official notification for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST) 2027 for admission to Class 6. Eligible students can now submit their admission forms to Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) for the academic session 2027-28.According to the official schedule, the application deadline is July 31, 2026. The entrance exam will be held on November 28, 2026, while the results will be announced by March/April 2027.The test is scheduled earlier than the last two years.
what to do
Students can appear for JNVST only once. To be eligible, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- They must be studying in Class 5 during the academic year 2026-27 in a recognized school.
- They must be bona fide citizens of the province in which they are admitted.
- Must have studied and completed Grades 3, 4 and 5 in a recognized school.
- Must have been born between May 1, 2015, and July 31, 2017 (both dates inclusive).
- Students who have already passed or repeated Class 5 are not eligible to apply.
A new special regional law
The NVS has established a law for people to receive approval for this year’s district. Students can apply only to the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in the district where they reside.However, if a student studies in a nearby district, the school must be within 10 kilometers of their residence. Details will be confirmed by NVS at the time of approval. Applications sent to the wrong district will be rejected even if you make a temporary decision.
JNVST 2027 Exam Pattern
The selection test will be conducted in Offline OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) mode.The paper will consist of 80 type questions with a total of 100 marks. Each correct answer will get 1.25 marks, and there will be no negative mark for wrong answers.

Candidates must obtain the minimum qualifying marks specified in each category. They should use a blue or black pen to write the answers on the OMR sheet, as the use of pencils is not allowed.NVS has also advised the candidates to check carefully that the OMR paper and the question booklet have the same serial number. If there is any discrepancy, it should be reported to the supervisor immediately.
