IIT Madras awarded 3,518 degrees to 3,106 students during its 63rd convocation, where four students received top awards for academic excellence and achievements. Degrees awarded included undergraduate, graduate, associate and dual degrees, as well as 511 PhDs.The conference also recognized students who excelled academically and excelled in academics and extracurricular activities. These scholarships are offered for all engineering, management and research programsDuring the meeting, the Director of IIT Madras Prof. V. Kamakoti awarded degrees to 3,106 students. The graduates were 812 B.Tech, 302 Dual Degree B.Tech, 617 M.Tech students, 143 M.Sc students, 123 MA, 53 Executive MBA, 84 MBA, 32 PG Diploma and 201 MS students.The 511 PhD degrees awarded at the event included 16 degrees associated with foreign universities.The President of Zanzibar highlights the work of technology and innovationSpeaking to the students who have completed the course, the president of Zanzibar, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, who is also the chairman of the Revolutionary Council, spoke about the role of emerging technologies and the role of graduates in shaping their future.“Each generation inherits the world as it is. Yours has a unique opportunity – and responsibility – to shape the world as it should be,” said Dr. Hussein Ali Mwini.He said artificial intelligence, robotics, biotechnology and quantum technologies are changing the way people live, learn and work. “Anything that is creative gives people a choice. It can increase inequality or increase opportunity. It can divide areas or unite them. This decision is not only for the technology, but for those who make it,” he said.IIT Madras Zanzibar campus revieweddr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi also spoke about IIT Madras Zanzibar, the first international IIT campus in India, which offers IIT Madras degrees.“The establishment of IIT Madras Zanzibar, the first international campus of IIT Madras, represents more than just higher education. It reflects our shared belief that knowledge should know no boundaries and that excellence should not be limited to geography,” he said.Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, said that IIT Madras Zanzibar has entered a dynamic position as a center of higher education in East Africa. The school currently has 130 students, representing Tanzania, India, Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia and Zambia.Dignitaries will attend the 63rd Conventiondr. Pawan Goenka, Chairman, Board of Governors, IIT Madras, presided over the meeting. Other dignitaries who were present were Hon’ble Lela Mohamed Mussa, Minister of Education and Vocational Training of Zanzibar, and Her Excellency Mai Anisa Kapufi Mbega, High Commissioner of the United Republic of Tanzania to India.Congratulating the graduating students, Dr. Pawan Goenka said: “Two years ago, IIT Madras opened the first international school in Zanzibar. Today, its president is standing in front of our graduating class in Chennai. This is not a coincidence of geography. It is a partnership between our people, which is built on the common belief that education, innovation and human development are the real foundations of human development.”“After the convocation, departmental graduation programs were held, where students received their degrees in person.
