BENGALURU: Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement that the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore will set up a campus in Indonesia, IIM-B said it will do it in two phases, starting with long-term education programs (EEPs) in Phase 1, followed by degree programs in Phase 2.According to plans, the IIMB (Singhasari) campus in Indonesia will offer EEPs designed for senior leaders and professionals preparing for leadership positions. His studies will include management systems and areas such as artificial intelligence, digital transformation, global supply chains, climate and sustainability and healthcare. Candidates in Indonesia will have access to IIMB’s repository of great open online courses (MOOCs) in addition to its public offerings. IIMB is a renowned institute for management education in Swayam. The project will strengthen research cooperation, faculty development, dialogue and policy cooperation as well as student exchange and industry activities in Indonesia and the rest of the ASEAN region, said the organization.“IIMB acknowledges the support provided by the Government of India and the Government ofIndonesia for advancing the project and supporting the establishment of the school,” read a statement from the B school.On July 7, 2026, at a press conference with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto in Jakarta, Modi said: “We will establish a campus of India’s leading institute, IIM Bangalore, in Indonesia, which will greatly benefit the youth of the entire ASEAN region”.The announcement is based on the recently signed agreement between IIM Bangalore and the Singhasari Special Economic Zone (SEZ), which is expected to house an international campus. The agreement was signed on July 6 at the Coordinating Ministry of Economic Affairs in Jakarta by Prof. In Dinesh Kumar, Director General and Prof. Jitamitra Desai, Professor and Member, Board of Governors representing IIM Bangalore.Professor U. Dinesh Kumar said that this partnership will be of great help in creating a leadership team that will lead not only companies in Indonesia but also international organizations.Prof. Desai said, “It is our major strength in management education.“
