New Delhi: The International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad (IIIT Hyderabad) celebrated its 25th convocation on July 11, 2026, with 526 students completing their undergraduate, postgraduate and research courses. The ceremony also marked a milestone in the school’s journey, which began with its first assembly in 2002 when 49 students graduated from the school which had 496 students and 16 teachers.Over the years, IIIT Hyderabad has grown into a research institution with 2,524 students, 114 faculty members and an alumni body of 8,200 graduates. The institute showcased its growth in research, technology and education at the convocation ceremony.Students recognized for academic excellence and overall achievementMaddireddy Kritin, a B.Tech student in Computer Science and Engineering, received the IIIT Hyderabad Gold Medal for academic excellence. Abhinav Digambar Raundhal, also from B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering, received the Overall Excellence Award for academics, extracurricular activities and work at the school.Congratulating the graduating students, Prof. Sandeep Shukla, Director of IIIT Hyderabad, said that the conference represents the completion of the educational programs and the beginning of continued learning and support. He encouraged the graduates to use their wisdom and skills to solve problems.Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood, Chief Scientific Adviser to the Government of India and the chief guest on the occasion, congratulated the graduating students and wished them well in their future endeavors.

Strategic distribution of the graduate programThe graduating class included students from many academic programs. The results of the program are as follows:
Research, placement and educational developmentDuring the academic year, 119 companies registered to work, and 59 companies offer opportunities to students. The board also added five new full-time members, bringing its total strength to 114, as well as contributions from adjunct professors and industry experts.Since 2025, IIIT Hyderabad researchers have produced 371 academic publications and intellectual outputs, including 22 patents, 265 conference papers, 101 journal articles, four book chapters and one book.The organization has also received grants for more than 55 school-led research projects. Ten members received research awards and unrestricted funding from organizations including Adobe, Google, Qualcomm and the Amazon Development Center. Four postdoctoral fellowships were awarded through DST and ANRF, while 22 who received funding from outside the Ph.D. medical professional associations.Higher education and alumni supportIIIT Hyderabad’s top academic programs have trained more than 4,500 professionals over the past eight years through a hybrid learning model. The institute has completed several batches in AI and ML, Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technologies, Software Engineering for Data Science and Generative AI and Prompt Engineering programs.The alumni network has grown to 8,242 graduates. Through its Alumni Fund, the school has supported more than 75 students on a tuition-based basis, while businesses have also contributed to student financial support. AT&T has provided Rs 7.2 crore from 2021 to students admitted through the Special Channel of Admission (SPEC), along with ongoing support from CGI.
