Himachal Pradesh school holiday: All public and private institutions are closed today, July 21, 2026, in several flood-prone districts of Himachal Pradesh following the Red Alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Precautionary measures have been taken in view of the forecast of heavy rains, flash floods and mudslides which may affect the safety of the people.District administrations in Kangra, Mandi, Chamba and Sirmaur have ordered closure of schools and other institutions on the day. The restrictions also apply to scheduled exams, which have been suspended in the affected states. Officials said that the new dates for the exam will be announced separately.In Kangra, all schools, colleges, universities, Anganwadi centers and technical training institutes have been ordered to remain closed. Sirmaur has also suspended educational activities, with the district administration extending the closure till July 22, 2026.In Mandi and Chamba, all primary, secondary and higher schools, including government and non-governmental organizations, have been advised to suspend classes for the day to prevent accidents.Ophunzitsa ndi osaphunzitsa apatsidwa tchuthi. However, agency officials and local disaster management officials may require personnel to report to emergency services if necessary.

For districts where no blanket closure has been announced, the state government has ordered the Deputy Commissioners to monitor the local weather and take decisions to suspend classes if rain, flooding or roads cause accidents.
