During an interaction with Vickey Lalwani, Paresh Rawal speculated that he was not comfortable working with Akshay Kumar to rest. He clarified, “It is not at all a matter of not being comfortable with Akshay Kumar. This is a contractual obligation of these people. So if I do it, I will have to have Firoz’s (Firoz Nadiadwala) approval, because he is the sole owner of the franchise.”He shared that Firoz Nadiadwala has the rights of ‘Hera Pheri’, ‘Awara Paagal Deewana’ and ‘Welcome’. “They sent a legal notice. I said, no, I don’t want to get into this legal mess; I don’t want to make this movie, bro.”Reacting to the legal notice he received from Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal said, “I think that was his emotional reaction. Like, ‘how can Paresh say no to me?’ He must have been emotionally disturbed. That’s why he sent him. I strongly believe that.”However, later Paresh Rawal confirmed that he will be doing ‘Hera Pheri 3’. During the interaction, he made his stance clear that he will make the film, regardless of who the creator would be. “Whenever Hera Pheri happens, I will do it. Whoever does it, I will do it. I am married to the film.”
