The widely circulated footage shows the actor standing off to the side with his son by his side, watching people walk past them.

A viral post claimed, “Amidst the ongoing student movement at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, Naseeruddin Shah arrived with his sons Imad and Vivan Shah. He did not make any public statement, simply stood quietly leaning on a pillar and watching the protest. He also watched the students disperse gravely after the police action.”Another post said, “Naseeruddin Shah joined the student protest at Jantar Mantar with his sons, Imaad and Vivaan. He didn’t say anything. He just stood, looked and stood. Sometimes silence speaks louder.”The video quickly gained traction online, with many commenting on the actor’s attendance at the rally.
Naseeruddin Shah’s video from Mumbai, not Delhi
However, the actor’s video was not shot in Delhi, but in Mumbai, outside the Regal Cinema in Colaba. The image, originally shared on Instagram by a user identified as Rajesh Gaur, shows Naseeruddin Shah with his children on a street corner. The video shows the man panning the camera to share the footage from outside the movie theater. The camera even pans to show that the actor was attending a screening at the theater playing the films ‘Raja Shivaji’ and the romantic comedy ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh Do’ starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Wamiqa Gabbi, Sara Ali Khan and Rakul Preet Singh.However, in the viral clips shared online, the video appears to have been edited to exclude footage that makes it clear that the actor was seen at the theater and not at Jantar Mantar.Original video published on July 15The timing of the video further contradicts the viral claim. The footage was uploaded online on 15 July and reposted on 20 July. However, the clip only went viral on Monday, with the pretext that the actor had joined the protest.
