NEW DELHI: The Center has created a special cadre of Ex-Agniveers for the recruitment of Constable (General Duty) posts in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Rifleman posts in the Assam Rifles. The new provisions include 50 percent job reservation, age relaxation and exemption from several stages of the recruitment process.This was shared by the Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai while answering a question in the Lok Sabha. The announcement outlines the benefits that will be available to Ex-Agniveers under the new category.Reservations and retirement arrangementsAccording to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ex-Agniveers will get places in 50 percent of the notified posts of Constable (General Duty) in the CAPFs and Rifleman in the Assam Rifles.The government has also given relaxation of three years in the upper age limit to the Ex-Agniveer aspirants. In addition, candidates in the first batch of Ex-Agniveers will be eligible for relaxation of five years beyond the upper age limit prescribed.Exemption from recruitmentThe new recruitment process also gives Ex-Agniveers exemption from Physical Standards Test (PST), Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and written test for these posts.The ministry said that this has been implemented under the newly created Ex-Agniveer recruitment team for CAPF and Assam Rifles.Volunteer wing established under MHAThe Ministry of Home Affairs has also established a dedicated Ex-Agniveer wing to facilitate the development of Ex-Agniveers.According to the written answer, the first batch of Agniveers has not yet completed its engagement period. A dedicated wing was created to facilitate communication regarding their progress after completion of the mission.The details were given by the Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai in his reply to the Lok Sabha.
