Dia Mirza faces backlash against 5-year-old son, SCHOOL delivery boy for plastic bags:
Dia Mirza is facing backlash after she shared on Soha Ali Khan’s podcast how her 5-year-old son Avyaan scolded a delivery man for bringing coconuts in plastic bags. While Soha praised her conviction, social media users called Dia “entitled” and accused her of “privileged isolation”, pointing to her own use of plastic-wrapped make-up products.

Dia Mirza is facing a social media backlash after she shared how her 5-year-old son Avyaan Azaad Rekhi taught a grown-up boy a lesson. The conversation touched on climate change and Dia’s strong opposition to the use of plastic. He narrated an incident where his young son confronted the delivery man for delivering coconuts in plastic bags with plastic straws.

Dia Mirza’s son lectures the delivery man about plastic

good Soha Ali KhanIn Dia’s podcast, Dia said, “The coconut wala delivered the coconut and nothing burns my blood more than coconut water that comes in plastic bags with plastic straws. So this boy, bichara, didn’t know who he was delivering to. So Avyaan opened the door and put his hand on his hips and said, “Bhai a gyaya plastic me lekari a gyaya plastic me lekari a gyaya plastic me lekar usko plastic se nikalo, usko neeche rakho aur plastic aur straw leke jao (Why do you have this plastic? Plastic is not allowed in our house, leave it and take it away).

Soha Ali Khan praises Dia Mirza’s son

Soha praised Avyaan’s strong conviction and replied, “Imagine facing someone who is an adult and having that conviction.”

Dia Mirza asked for “right”

While Soha praised Avyaan’s behaviour, several listeners disagreed with how the boy acted or with Dia supporting him. The podcast clip soon went viral online. One user tagged Dia as a “title”, commenting: “Imagine being so rude and entitled to someone who literally serves you in 40 degrees Celsius. The entitlement is unreal – it blinds them to basic respect and decency. If you don’t do plastic, go to the thela and buy it yourself and bring it in paper bags. And then the same people act all polished and ‘real’ on camera… what a joke.”

Dia Mirza accused of “isolated privilege”

Another viewer pointed out that Dia herself probably uses plastic-packaged makeup products, but she doesn’t address it. Calling it ‘isolated privilege’, the user commented: “A child berates a poor coconut vendor, who sells door-to-door trying to make ends meet during the hot Indian summers, for ‘getting his plastic back’, while adults celebrate it as ‘standing up to a grown-up.’ “Then the mother of said child appears on camera, fully decked out in over 20 makeup products for that perfect rosy glow… Guess what these products are sold in? You guessed it: plastic containers! This is what isolated privilege looks like.Another user commented: “Entitled Dia Mirza talking nonsense and another privileged woman accepting. Teach your child decent manners first. Nariyal should be carried in a bag. If you don’t want the plastic bag, that’s fine. You don’t have to let your child scold the delivery man.” Several other comments echoed similar sentiments.
