Delhi University (DU) has implemented one of the biggest reforms in its undergraduate admissions process, introducing one-year master’s programs for the first time. The new scholarship will be available from the academic session of 2026-27 and is open to students who have completed a four-year degree from the University of Delhi. The university has already started online registration for undergraduates. Eligible candidates can send their applications till July 11.
46 one year PG courses were introduced
In a major expansion of education, Delhi University will offer 46 one-year scholarships this year. This scholarship is designed for students who have graduated from DU under four years of higher education. The launch of these programs marks a major departure from the university’s two-year model and creates a new way for qualified students to complete a master’s degree in one academic year.
More than 1,100 additional seats for undergraduates
The newly released one-year programs will have more than 1,100 seats in various fields. Next to them, Delhi University will continue to offer admission to its 74 two-year graduate programs, which have about 13,500 seats. With both programs running simultaneously, the university will offer admission to approximately 14,600 seats for graduates in 2026, increasing the number of graduates.
Existing two-year programs remain unchanged
The establishment of one-year master’s programs does not affect existing courses. The university will continue to admit students to its two-year programs on a case-by-case basis.A new one-year course has been introduced as an additional study option for eligible graduates, making it possible for all programs to work together.
Registration closes on July 11
The online registration window for undergraduates has opened, and the university has set July 11 as the deadline for submitting applications. With the introduction of one-year master’s programs and the expansion of seats, this year’s admissions process marks a major change in Delhi University’s curriculum. This is the first time that the university offers two different undergraduate study programs, which represents a major restructuring of its undergraduate programs and increases opportunities for students seeking admission to master’s programs.
