Thousands of children have got an opportunity to study in private schools across the national capital after the Delhi Directorate of Education (DoE) announced the results of the second round of online admission under the categories of Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Disadvantaged Group (DG), and Children with Special Needs (CWSN).A total of 8,976 students have been selected for entry into the non-aided entry classes for the 2026-2027 academic year. The draw was held on Friday as part of the government’s efforts to fill reserved seats for deserving children through a transparent and computerized process.
About 9,000 students were selected for Nursery, KG and Class 1
According to the Directorate of Education, students have been selected across nursery, kindergarten (KG), and Class 1 under reserved categories.If admitted to kindergarten, students must be between three and five years old as of March 31, 2026.Children who want to enter Kindergarten (KG) must be four to six years old and students who want to join Class 1 must be five to seven years old.Students must meet the age requirements to be eligible for admission.
A disability certificate is required for admission under the CWSN Category
Applicants who wish to join the category of children with special needs must provide a disability certificate, which must have been issued by any government hospital. The disability certificate should be issued as per the guidelines of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.
Computer imaging was performed to ensure ubiquity
The Directorate of Education said that the second digital recording was done to ensure that the seats of the children in the EWS, DG, and CWSN groups are allocated in a fair, transparent and impartial manner.The computerized selection process was designed to eliminate manual intervention and provide equal opportunity to eligible candidates for admission under the reservation system.Physical activity is an important part of Delhi’s annual admissions program for economically disadvantaged families, disadvantaged groups, and children with special needs.
Admissions cover Entry Classes
The admissions process applies to entry-level classes, including:
- Pre-school (Nursery)
- Pre-primary (Kindergarten)
- Class 1
This admission is done for the academic session 2026-27 in the reserved categories notified by the Delhi government.
Age limits for EWS and DG applicants
The age requirements have been specified by the Directorate of Education for children in the EWS and DG categories.To enter kindergarten classes, children are expected to be between three and five years old as of March 31, 2026.Children who want to be admitted to the KG group must be between the ages of four and six, while those who want to be admitted to the first class must be between the ages of six and seven. It is important that children meet the age requirements to be eligible for admission.
A disability certificate is required for CWSN admission
Applicants seeking admission under the category of Children with Special Needs (CWSN) must submit a valid disability certificate issued by a government hospital.The certificate must be submitted in accordance with the screening procedures provided under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016. The certificate is subject to verification at the time of admission.
The reception process is ongoing
The second computer simulation shows another key step in Delhi’s admissions process for reserved seats in private schools. Through the implementation of the digital lottery system, the Directorate of Education hopes to facilitate a more fair admissions process and increase educational prospects for the poorest children and children with disabilities.Selected candidates are now expected to go through the rest of the admission process as per the guidelines issued by the Directorate of Education.
