Music composer Amaal Mallik sparked a major controversy on Thursday after posting a scathing note on X (formerly Twitter), targeting his fellow songwriter. Tanishk Bagchi with a series of serious allegations. Although Amaal did not mention Tanishk by name, he referred to him as “Mr Remix & Destroyer of Originals”, leaving little doubt as to who he was addressing.Amaal Mallik’s allegations come just days after Tanishk Bagchi publicly claimed that he has not been paid the rights of the blockbuster film Saiyaara. On Saturday, Tanishk took to Instagram to allege that he is yet to receive Rs 8 lakh royalty for the chartbuster despite paperwork and documentation related to the song. Sharing the poster of the film, the composer said he felt betrayed for not paying what was owed to him. However, the post was later deleted and Tanishk has not publicly commented on Amaal’s latest allegations.In the lengthy post, Amaal accused the composer of copying songs, using paid advertising, taking credit for other people’s work and behaving unfairly within the music industry. He also made unverified allegations about his conduct with female singers and claimed that several artists had remained silent about the copied songs.

Opening his post, Amaal wrote: “Dear Mr. Remix and Destroyer of Originals. 10 years too late but I will show the world your place.”He went on to accuse the composer of using paid PR campaigns with old photographs of him.“You’ve earned the PR money paid for by the label, but you’re spending it in the wrong place,” Amaal wrote, while also questioning why the songwriter kept calling him and referring to him as brother.
He claims that the title track of ‘Saiyaara’ was taken from the original composers
One of Amaal’s biggest accusations centered around the title track of Saiyaara.He claimed that the song originally belonged to composers Faheem Abdullah and Arsalan Nizami, claiming that it was taken from them to secure a place for the filmmaker. Mohit Surithe project ofAmaal further claimed that if the original composers released their version, titled Saiyaan Mere, people would know who actually created the song.These allegations have not been independently verified, and neither Tanishk Bagchi nor the makers of Saiyaara have publicly responded to the claims at the time of writing.
Make complaints about copied songs and copyright
The composer also alleged that several songs credited to Tanishk were copied from Pakistani songs, popular tunes, YouTube versions and works of other composers.He further stated that artistes like Jubin Nautiyal and composer Rocky Khanna chose not to raise objections on certain songs out of respect and professional relationships.Elsewhere in the post, Amaal accused the composer of speaking privately against music label T-Series and Bhushan Kumar, while remaining silent publicly.
Serious allegations about the treatment of female singers
Amaal also made serious and unverified allegations about the composer’s behavior towards female singers, claiming that several women had negative experiences but did not formally come forward.These claims remain allegations made by Amaal on social media, and no legal complaint or official confirmation has been filed regarding these allegations.

Upon finalizing his post, Amaal warned the composer not to target him again.“This is a legal notice, don’t mess with me, you’ll regret it,” he wrote, adding that he wasn’t competing with any songwriters of his generation, but wanted to expose what he called unfair practices in the industry.At the time of publication, Tanishk Bagchi has not publicly responded to Amaal Mallik’s allegations.
