University officials said the move to online courses is aimed at reducing the pressure on the school’s water supply. The institution requires about 3.5 lakh liters of water every day to meet the needs of students, faculty members, hostels and other campus facilities.Although the university currently has sufficient water supply, officials said the decision was taken to prepare for any situation that may arise if the rains subside.“Though there is an adequate water supply system at present, the temporary shift to online classes will help in managing the available resources,” an official told PTI.The administration explained that the move is a precautionary and good measure, stressing that educational activities will continue without interruption despite the temporary change in the educational system.

The university has directed all faculty members to conduct online courses as per the notified schedule and ensure that attendance and academic progress is maintained.Faculty members whose summer vacation ends on July 14 have been advised to go to the university campus and conduct online classes from July 15.Meanwhile, teachers whose leave ends on July 21 will be required to resume their studies from that date and continue conducting scheduled classes.The university has also emphasized that the departments should ensure that online courses are running smoothly so that students do not face academic disruptions within a month.
