According to the official filing, the series is a “bold and timely reimagining of the story of high school misfit Carrie White, who has spent her life isolated with her domineering mother,” according to Variety. The statement continued: “After the sudden and untimely death of her father, Carrie finds herself grappling with the alien landscape of her public high school, a bullying scandal that tears her community apart, and the emergence of mysterious telekinetic powers.” Mike Flanagan sees the upcoming series as the modern interpretation of the iconic story. Aiming for an “honest” and “uplifting” display, the series takes aim at how young children’s mental health is affected and how simple mistakes live forever on social media. “There’s no reason to try to follow those steps and try to walk that path. However, the world has changed quite a bit,” he told the panel on Saturday, July 25, 2026, by deadline.
