Famous photographer and film producer Atul Kasbekar is mourning the death of his father, Arun Bhaskar Kasbekar, who died at the age of 88. Taking to Instagram, the veteran photographer shared an emotional post announcing that his father passed away peacefully at home last July 14, in the presence of his family.
Atul Kasbekar remembers his father’s last moments
Alongside a set of throwback photographs, Atul reflected on his father’s final moments and paid tribute to the life he lived. “Around 3pm yesterday, my father passed away. Peacefully, in his own bed, with my mother holding one hand and me holding the other. There was no sound. There was no harsh breathing. No struggle. He just slipped away. He had just turned 88. You must be especially blessed to ease into your next journey without any pain or seeming pain. Father leaves behind my mother, four children and eight grandchildren. He was always ready with a quick joke, a sharp wit and a sharp mathematical mind. Proud of his Karwari roots, the language, the cuisine and the people,” wrote Atul. Kasbekar further added, “Totally self-made, he was generous far beyond his means, quietly helping countless people over the years. Thank you, Dad, for the values you gave us, the laughter you filled our lives with. You will be greatly missed, fondly remembered and loved forever. Arun Bhaskar -06-1938-06-12 07-14-2026.”

Soon after Atul shared the post, condolence messages started pouring in from various people in the film and entertainment industry. Actors Manoj Bajpayee, Dia Mirza, Gajraj Rao, Gulshan Devaiah, Harleen Sethi, Lisa HaydonDivya Dutta, Mahima Chaudhry, Chhaya Kadam and Amruta Khanvilkar, along with the singer Shankar Mahadev and former cricketer Harbhajan Singh, sent their support and prayers to the bereaved family.
