Anthony Hopkinsthe revered Welsh actor, releases his single, ‘Bracken Road’, aged 88. Achieving his lifelong dream of signing a record deal, the inspirational artist will release his debut album. The album, ‘Life is a Dream’, contains pieces from his incredible selection spanning six decades of work.Here’s a closer look at Anthony Hopkins’ new album and single release.While Anthony Hopkins graced the screens and won numerous accolades as a professional actor, he was once a 4-year-old boy passionately learning the piano. “Music was my first desire, my first desire; I’ve been composing music all my life. Some of these pieces have stayed with me for decades, and I still find myself going back to them. My whole life is a dream. Signing with Decca is the honor of a lifetime,” read the Academy Award winner’s official statement, released by record company Decca Classics, per The Guardian. Anthony Hopkins’ debut album is performed by the Grammy-winning director Gustavo Dudamel and the Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as virtuoso soloists, cellist Gregorio Nieto and classical pianist Sergio Tiempo. “My deepest gratitude and respect goes to maestro Gustavo Dudamel, whose art is an integral part of this musical journey,” he said.The released single ‘Bracken Road’ was composed by the actor in 1963 when he was a young actor at the Liverpool Playhouse. In another song, ‘My Fatherland’, he pays tribute to Wales for its humble beginnings. “I am the son of my father, the baker,” he added. He also revisits his childhood memories of Port Talbot, reminiscing about his grandfather and close friends.Hopkins began improvising on the piano at age 6 and eventually composed music for local plays as a teenager. Even during his acting career, he worked on the piano and continued with his passion. Now, after all these years, ‘Life of A Dream’ was shot in April and will be released on August 21, 2026.
