ETimes review of ‘Con City’
ETimes awarded Con City a rating of 3 out of 5 stars. The review said: “Give this to Harish Durairaj: for a debut, he’s reaching beyond the cookie-cutter template, building a multi-threaded con story with a familiar pulse instead of the usual heroics. Not everything works out, and the film would be sharper to lose 15-20 minutes of its thickest stretches. The performers cover a lot. Arjun Das plays smoother and warmer than his recent intense run, and the double act of Yogi Babu and Vadivukkarasi is the most reliable source of fun. Sean Roldan’s songs are a real plus and his background score works consistently, while Aravind Viswanathan’s camera work is functional. There’s nothing here you haven’t seen, but the cast makes the familiar fall apart. Con City is happy to be a decent hangout, and maybe you will be too.”
