actor Sonu Mishra has publicly distanced himself from the controversial film ‘Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy’, stating that he quit after realizing the project was meant to damage the image of a senior actor. His statement comes as salman khan continues his legal fight in the Delhi High Court to halt the filming, promotion and release of the film, with the next hearing scheduled for July 1.
Why Sonu Mishra left ‘Kala Hiran’?
Speaking to ANI, Sonu Mishra revealed that he was initially cast to play Salman Khan’s character, believing that the film would present a favorable narrative. However, his perspective changed after he understood the true intent of the project. He said, “I was supposed to portray Salman Khan’s character. When I realized that the film was made to tarnish the name of a superstar and the reputation of Rajasthani culture, my ethics did not allow me to be part of the propaganda against a senior actor. Following creative differences with the filmmakers, I decided to distance myself from the film.”Mishra further claimed that the makers never shared the script with him. Regarding the alleged threats from the Bishnoi community, he was categorical and said that there was “no doubt” that he received such threats, adding that it is his own community. He said films highlighting the community’s contributions to society would make more sense and the legal dispute should be left to the judiciary.
What is Salman Khan’s legal case about?
“Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy” is inspired by 1998 blackbuck poaching case linked to Salman Khan.
