In an interview to News18, Arshad Warsi made a surprising revelation about the casting of Circuit’s on-screen wife. The actor revealed that Maria Goretti, who went on to appear in films like ‘Salaam Namaste’, ‘Raghu Romeo’ and ‘Jaane Hoga Kya’, had been considered for the role.He said, “We had also considered calling Maria for this. Ghar ki murgi le aao! Raju ka beta, meri biwi – sab ko le aao, khada karo aur kaam pe laga do (laughs).”
Rajkumar Hirani talks about the nurse who became Circuit’s wife
In another little-known curiosity about the film, the actress who appeared as Circuit’s wife in the photograph had actually played a nurse in the film itself. Rajkumar Hirani, who was also part of the interview, explained how it was discovered and cast on the spot, mainly due to budget constraints.He recalled: “All the other actresses were getting paid. We didn’t have the budget for it. We just needed someone for the photography. Then I saw this girl walking around that night and I asked my crew who she is. They told me she was playing one of the nurses.”The director added, “I couldn’t recognize her because in the uniform she looked very different. I told them, ‘Yeh toh pehchaan mein bhi nahi aa rahi hai.’ Isko khada kar do yaar”. We did not show any equation between Circuit and her in the film. For many years, people could not figure out who she was. It is only in recent times that they have connected the dots.”
