ICSSR opens applications for Postdoctoral Fellowship 2026, registration closes July 21
ICSSR Postdoctoral Fellowship 2026: Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) has invited online applications for Postdoctoral Fellowship Scheme for the financial year 2026-2027. Indian scholars can submit applications through the ICSSR website from June 22, 2026, while the last date for online submission is July 21, 2026.The fellowship is only opened through an online application process. Applicants must also use the research application process found within the application form. Separate research proposals or copies of research papers will not be accepted. Applications can be completed in English or Hindi, and no hard copies are required.Requirements for applicantsApplicants must be Indian citizens and must not be more than 45 years of age on the last date of application. Five years relaxation is available for SC, ST and Persons with Benchmark Disability candidates. Candidates must hold a PhD degree at the time of application, and their research skills must be demonstrated through published work.Applicants must be affiliated with an Indian government-funded university, recognized as a university, a college with an accredited PhD program, an ICSSR research institute, a nationally recognized institute recognized by the Ministry of Education, or a government research institute. The fellowship will be administered through a fellowship under the supervision of a senior social scientist under the rank of Associate Professor, subject to the approval of the ICSSR.Direct link to apply online for ICSSR Postdoctoral Fellowship 2026The task is to choose a pathOnly one application may be submitted under the Postdoctoral Fellowship scheme, although applicants may apply separately for other ICSSR purposes. The affiliated organization must submit only those applications that meet the requirements.Programs will be evaluated and interacted with or presented in front of academic experts in several sessions. Final recommendations will be presented before the relevant ICSSR committees. Selected candidates and affiliated organizations will receive award letters after acceptance.The length of the fellowship is important for researchThe fellowship is for full-time research for two years without extension. The selected candidates will get Rs.31,000 per month along with an emergency grant of Rs.25,000 per year, according to the guidelines of the Ministry of Education.During the fellowship, scholars must publish at least two papers in peer-reviewed journals related to their research topic and accept ICSSR support. At the end of this period, fellows must submit a book-length final report, an abstract of 3,000 to 4,000 words, published research papers and a mock report showing an Equity Index of no more than 10 percent.
