Speaking to RTE Radio 1, the famous actor explained that the Belfast riots were one of the main reasons filming for the upcoming season was halted. He shared: “We had to take a break from that, which… That wasn’t great,” while adding that “there’s a lot going on in Ireland, I think from outside the country at the moment. And I think a lot of social media stirred a lot of pots here, and a lot of idle hands sitting around were able to get out.“In early June, riots broke out in the Northern Irish capital after Stephen Ogilvie was stabbed and a Sudanese national was arrested in connection with the matter. After the riots broke out, houses and cars were also set on fire.

As for the upcoming ‘Line of Duty’ season 7, it has been confirmed that the series will only have 6 episodes. Jed Mercurio wrote the entire script for this season.
