GSET 2026: Gujarat State Nodal Agency at Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara, has released the detailed notification for Gujarat State Eligibility Test (GSET) 2026. Government examinations are conducted to determine eligibility for appointment as Assistant Professors in universities and colleges in Gujarat.According to the information, GSET 2026 will be conducted in 36 subjects in 12 examination centers across the state. The exam is scheduled to be held on November 29, 2026. Candidates who are eligible for higher education can submit their applications through the official GSET portal within the registration period.Essays and examsThe exam will cover 36 graduate courses, and candidates will have to choose a subject that matches their skills after graduation. Subjects include Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Life Sciences, Hindi, Gujarati, Sanskrit, History, Sociology, Economics, Political Science, English, Education, Law, Commerce, Management, Computer Science, Earth Sciences, Geography, Social Work, Hindu Studies, Music, Yoga, Statistics and others listed in bullet.The question papers will be given in English, Gujarati, Sanskrit, Hindi or bilingual, depending on the subject. Mathematical Sciences, Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences and Life Sciences will be conducted in English, while Gujarati and Sanskrit papers will be available in their respective languages.Eligibility requirements for applicantsCandidates must have secured at least 55 percent, without passing, in Master’s degree or equivalent examination from a university or institution recognized by UGC. SEBC (Non-Creamy Layer), SC, ST, PwD and third category candidates must have secured 50 percent marks.Those pursuing a Master’s degree or waiting for final results can apply temporarily. The candidates must complete their degree with the required percentage within two years of the declaration of GSET results. The notification states that there is no age limit for applicants.The payment plan is the chosen methodThe registration fee has been fixed at Rs 900 plus bank charges for General, General-EWS and SEBC (Non-Creamy Layer). SC, ST and male/female applicants have to pay Rs 700 plus bank charges, while the fee for PwD candidates is Rs 100 plus bank charges. Payment must be made online via credit card, debit card or bank transfer.GSET 2026 will have two objective type papers which will be held on the same day. Paper I will have 100 marks and 50 questions to assess teaching and research skills, reasoning, understanding and perception. Paper II will have 200 marks and 100 questions from the chosen topic.
