Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scores fastest List A fifty, but 324.14 strike rate still not his best | Cricket News
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi once again proved why he is regarded as one of India’s brightest young talents by producing a breathtaking 94 from just 29 balls against Sri Lanka A in the final of the Tri-Nation Series. The 15-year-old struck at an incredible pace of 324.14, hammering 10 fours and 8 sixes before falling 6-run short of a century. While this innings is one of the most destructive ever played for India A in the 50-over format, it was not the fastest knock of his young career. The 15-year-old opener unleashed a breathtaking assault on the Sri Lankan bowlers after Sri Lanka A elected to field first, raced to his half-century in just 11 deliveries, conjuring up a stunning sequence of 4, 4, 4, 6, 6, 0, 6, 61, 6 off, 61, 6 off. In doing so, Sooryavanshi broke the previous world record fifty off 12 balls, set by Sri Lanka’s Kaushalya Weeraratne in 2005. But this was only his second best innings in terms of strike rate. The best came in November 2025 when, at just 14 years and 232 days, the left-handed opener rewrote the record books with a remarkable 144 off 42 balls against the UAE in the Asia Cup Rising Stars tournament. In that T20 match, I smashed 11 fours and 15 sixes, scoring at an amazing rate of 342.86. He reached his century in just 32 balls, making it the third fastest T20 century shared by an Indian batsman with Rishabh Pant smashing a 32-ball hundred for Delhi in SMAT. Sooryavanshi led India A to a monumental 297/4 in his 20 overs and played a key role in guiding the team to an emphatic 148-run victory. Although Vaibhav Sooyavanshi’s highest run for Team India came in the U19-Final match against England in 2026. Vaibhav dismantled England’s bowling attack with 15 fours and 15 sixes and scored 175 runs off just 80 balls at a strike rate of 218.75 and a final record of 41/a9 in India.
