Christopher Nolan‘s Odyssey continues to enjoy an outstanding theatrical performance at the Indian box office. The film which completed its second weekend, has already crossed the Rs 140 crore mark in India and remains one of the highest grossing Hollywood films of the year.

Box office collection ‘The Odyssey’ Day 10

The starring mythological epic Matt Damon at the top, it witnessed good growth on its second Sunday, comfortably crossing the Rs 140 crore gross mark, thus consolidating its position among the highest-grossing Hollywood releases in the country. According to Sacnilk’s early estimates, ‘The Odyssey’ collected Rs 11.45 crore nett on 10th from 4,638 shows, up 3.6 percent from Saturday’s Rs 11.05 crore nett collection. Including Friday’s Rs 6.85 crore, the film managed to collect around Rs 29.35 crore in the second weekend. This is a drop of almost 50 percent in the opening weekend collections of the film. By the end of its first week at the box office, the film earned an estimated net collection of Rs 90.30 crore.With the latest figures, the film’s total India net collection now stands at around Rs 119.65 crore, while its India gross collection has risen to Rs 142.86 crore.

The English version ‘The Odyssey’ continues to dominate

The English version remained the top grosser for the film in its second weekend, collecting approximately Rs 9.75 crore on Sunday. The Hindi dubbed version also registered healthy growth, bringing in approximately Rs 1.40 crore, while the Tamil and Telugu versions earned around Rs 10 lakh and Rs 20 lakh, respectively.

“The Odyssey” endures despite”Eat at Nayaganwave

‘The Odyssey’ has maintained strong collections despite the release of Vijay’s Jana Nayagan, one of the biggest Indian releases of the year. The Tamil blockbuster stormed the box office with an estimated Rs 145.98 crore gross and Rs 124.75 crore nett in its first weekend in India.

‘The Odyssey’ vs ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day

While the film has successfully crossed its second weekend, its biggest battle at the box office is just around the corner. The film will face stiff competition from Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures’ ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’, which is already rewriting advance booking records in India.The Tom Holland starrer has reportedly grossed around Rs 25 crore through advance bookings for its opening day alone. Industry estimates suggest that the film’s final presales could go up to Rs 35 crore gross, setting the stage for one of the biggest Hollywood releases ever witnessed in the country.According to Sacnilk reports, the film could earn close to Rs 50 crore gross on its opening day despite releasing on a weekday Thursday, quite a feat for a Hollywood title in India.
