A few days ago, Courtney Stodden posted about Jason Alexander’s old skit from 2012, in which she had to wear a red two-piece beach outfit on camera at the age of 17 and was involved in a series of explicit jokes. Following her social media post about the matter and the public backlash, Alexander issued a formal apology to the actress and online personality.Now, according to a new post shared by Stodden, the actor has donated thousands of dollars to Unchained at Last, a non-profit organization working to end child marriage in the US. She shared in her post that, “I want to sincerely thank you for choosing to turn words into action. Accountability is not about public punishment, but about taking meaningful action that can help create change. My hope has always been greater than my own story. If difficult conversations can lead to real support for organizations that protect children and end child marriage, something profoundly positive can come from something profoundly positive.”Further commenting on how this should become the standard, Stodden added: “When harm is recognized, meaningful action has the power to help others. That’s how real change begins.” He then asked others to take inspiration from the veteran actor’s actions and donate to the cause to eradicate child marriage from the country.

In 2012, when Stodden was 17, she and her husband, Hutchison, were invited to a skit show called “The Donny Clay Show with Courtney Stodden.” In the setup, Alexander played a daytime TV doctor talking to her and her husband at the time. In one scene, the actor rubbed a phone against his chest and commented that there was “a lot” of signal coming from there; however, when he did the same to his head, he claimed that he could not receive any signal from there. Sharing a photo of the skit, Stodden called out the actor, along with all the adults who were part of the show and allowed it to happen.Her post said: “I was a minor. I didn’t have the legal power to decide if I wanted to participate. The contracts were signed by adults,” adding that the money didn’t even go to her, but was transferred to her husband.For the uninitiated, Courtney Stodden married actor David Hutchison when she was just 16, while he was 51, after their parents consented to the union. They remained together until 2017, when they officially separated, and formally finalized their divorce in 2020. Since then, Stodden has been a vocal advocate for stopping child marriage across the country and has openly supported various organizations working for the same cause.
