Kudrow recalled losing his mother to COVID and recalled feeling abandoned when his family believed they had received spiritual signs of his mother’s presence at the time of her death. When his mother died, his brother received the call at around 2.30 or 3 in the morning, while he was awake; her father was awake, her husband was awake, and an alarm went off at her sister’s house, waking them up as well. However, Kudrow had only woken up because her brother called her. “I said it wasn’t weird. She flew and woke everybody up when it happened,” Kudrow recalled telling loved ones, before adding, “Except she didn’t wake me up.”A day or two after the funeral, while putting together a slideshow in memory of his mother, Kudrow experienced something unusual. He was replying to text messages when he saw “MOM” written in the message box, even though he hadn’t written it. “There was no cursor or anything, and I was thinking, ‘I didn’t write that.’ delete delete Delete,'” she shared on Mayim Bialik’s podcast. The incident happened again, and then a third time, leaving her baffled and intrigued by what was happening.

A few days later, Kudrow remained upset that her mother seemed to wake up everyone but her. She complained to her husband that her phone was acting strange and told her husband and friends about the incident. His response was remarkable: “Lisa, your mother sent you a message from beyond.” Another incident occurred during the lockdown when he noticed “XOXOXO” appearing in a message box even though he hadn’t written it. His mother had never signed messages this way, but a day later, his father shared an old letter from his mother where almost half of the page was filled with “XOXOXOXO”.He also recalled a similar incident on his 60th birthday, when he found a jumbled string of letters in a text box that he interpreted as a possible birthday message from his mother. After arranging the letters, he felt that they resembled a birthday greeting. Kudrow noted that she calls her son Julian “JU” and interpreted the letters as another possible message from her mother, taking a screenshot this time for documentation.
