A large number of CBSE Class 12 students chose to re-evaluate their analyzed answers after the 2026 board results, which shows the importance of transparency in the examination. The Center told the Rajya Sabha that nearly one in four students who had appeared for the Class 12 board exams had applied to search for copies of their evaluated answers, while lakhs had also sought verification or revision of their marks.The information was shared by Minister of State for Education Jayant Chaudhary in response to a question raised by Rajya Sabha member Anil Kumar Yadav Mandadi.
About 4 lakh students have applied for answer books
According to the information presented in the Parliament, about 17.69 lakh students appeared for the CBSE Class 12 board examination in 2026.Of these, about 4.04 lakh students – about 22.8 per cent of the total respondents – have registered to get copies of their analyzed answers after the announcement.In addition, more than 1.68 lakh students, which is about 9.5 percent of the total students, applied to verify the information seen in their answer books and/or revise their answers.The statistics show that many students chose to use the tools provided by the institution after the results set by the institution to better understand the assessment and any corrections they may need.
CBSE has reduced the fees after the results to encourage access
Explaining what has happened this year, Chaudhary said that CBSE has reduced the post-result fees so much that no student has been denied the chance to re-check their answers due to financial reasons.He told the House that the agency issued a notice on May 17, 2026, establishing a revised schedule for these works.Under the new rates, students pay:
- Rs 100 for photocopy of answer book.
- Rs 100 for verifying the issues seen in the answer book.
- Rs 25 per question for review.
The Ministry said that the fee reduction scheme was introduced to make the graduation process more efficient and affordable for students.
The review fee is refunded if the symptoms increase
The government also reviewed another student aid scheme that was introduced this year. Chaudhary said candidates whose marks increased after the re-evaluation received a full refund of the re-evaluation fee.The aim was to ensure that students are not burdened with costs if errors in assessment are identified and corrected.
Focus on transparency in evaluation
The increase in application forms for answer books shows that students are making more use of the transparency process after the declaration of board results.Providing access to revised feedback enables students to review their writing before deciding whether to proofread or revise. The revised payment system and refund policy were introduced as part of CBSE’s efforts to make the facility accessible and fair.
CBSE Class 12 exam this year
The CBSE Class 12 board exams for the academic session of 2026 were held between February 17 and April 9. The board announced the results on May 13, after which students can apply for various post-result services, including getting hard copies of answers, verification of marks and revision. The information provided to the Parliament shows the high usage of the site by the students following the announcement of the results.
