Producer Vinod Kumar has reacted strongly against the intense criminal allegations leveled against him and the veteran actor Aryaofficially designating a high-risk Hyderabad police complaint as a targeted smear campaign designed to stop his new film. The legal crisis erupted when camera equipment rental company Taher Cine Tekniq lodged a formal complaint with the Jubilee Hills police station, alleging that the filmmakers failed to pay a massive balance of over Rs. 1.80 million for premium lenses and digital arrays used during production. Breaking his silence, Vinod Kumar termed the move as a calculated extortion stemming from a financial disagreement over an unreasonable payment mandate.

Responding to the allegations in an interaction with Deccan Chronicle, producer Vinod Kumar strongly denied all allegations and called the allegation a deliberate attempt to damage his reputation. “The complaint is completely baseless and is false propaganda created by the camera company,” he said. Explaining the dispute, Vinod added, “This is just a financial disagreement between the company and me over an unreasonable demand. When I refused to accept their demand, they threatened to stop the release of the film.” He also defended Arya, saying, “The complaint filed against Arya is only meant to tarnish her image and there is no truth in it.”
The court allowed the release of the film after the deposit of the disputed amount
Vinod Kumar said he approached the Ernakulam Munsif Court for permission to release ‘Ananthan Kaadu’. “The court heard the arguments of our counsel and directed me to deposit the disputed amount in the court. After depositing the amount, the court granted permission for the release of the film on June 25, 2026,” he said. The producer further stated, “After the release order, Taher Cine Tekniq filed another petition claiming that the documents we submitted were fake. They also moved the Hyderabad Commercial Court with similar claims that our documents were forged.”
The legal battle continues as the payment dispute continues before the courts
Stressing that the matter is now a legal matter, Vinod Kumar said, “The payment dispute is under trial and is before the courts.” “The complaint is an attempt to put pressure on us through false allegations,” he said, denying allegations of deception and intimidation. A believer in the system, he asserted that the matter would be decided by the courts through evidence. The case continues to receive media attention with ‘Ananthan Kaadu’ remaining in the limelight amid the legal tussle.
