PUNE: Artificial Intelligence (AI) should be seen as a tool to enhance human thinking rather than competing with it, Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited (MKCL) founder Vivek Sawant said while addressing the silver celebrations of Pune Vidyarthi Griha’s College of Science and Commerce.“Technology does not eliminate jobs; it transforms them by creating new opportunities. Students must recognize their interests and strengths, embrace skill-based learning, and adapt to emerging technologies. AI must be used to augment human thinking and problem-solving skills, not replace them,” said Sawant. He encouraged students to reduce inappropriate use of social media and focus on discipline, teamwork, soft skills, and lifelong learning to remain relevant in the changing job market.The event, held at Kulguru Dadasaheb Ketkar Auditorium, was graced by Savitribai Phule Pune University Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. Parag Kalkar, Pune Deputy Mayor Parshuram Wadekar, Pune Vidyarthi Griha Executive President Rajendra Borhade, Vice-President Amol Joshi, Secretary Sajinas Gunjarish Director, Secretary Sanjay Gunjaril Redekar, Pournima Likhite, Ramesh Kulkarni, and Rajendra Kaduskar, College Head Prof. Dr. Rajendra Kamble, Principal Dr. Sanjaykumar Gaikwad, Vice-Principal Prof. Rekha Joshi, and Prof. Dr. Swati Joshi, among others.Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Parag Kalkar said that higher education should go beyond conventional degree courses to focus on technical, vocational, and career-oriented education. He emphasized the importance of combining education with the transparency of companies, saying that institutions must prepare workers to meet the demands of a rapidly changing economy and ensure that students develop.Parshuram Wadekar said that higher education is still the most effective means of social change and praised the Pune Vidyarthi Griha for educating thousands of economically disadvantaged students over the past century. He said that the organizations that were established decades ago have successfully changed the times without violating traditional values and continue to raise responsible citizens.Rajendra Borhade said the College of Science and Commerce has built a strong identity over the past 25 years through academic excellence, student-centered initiatives, and an emphasis on research, innovation, business, and industry-related education. He said that the organization is still committed to using the principles of the National Education Policy and giving students the skills to deal with the problems of the future.In the past, Prof. Dr. Rajendra Kamble gave an overview of the college’s 25-year journey. A commemorative commemorative commemorating the college’s silver jubilee was also released.
