Bala Devi Chandrashekar’s ‘Mauli – A Timeless Tradition’ to combine classical dance with CSR for Pune

PUNE: FUEL (Friends Union for Energizing Lives) Education Institution will present “Mauli – A Timeless Tradition”, a Bharatanatyam production inspired by Pandharpur Wari spirituality, on July 12 at MES Auditorium in Kothrud. The event will also raise funds for the education of 10 female students through corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.The 75-minute production will be performed by world-renowned Bharatanatyam exponent, choreographer and researcher Bala Devi Chandrashekar.Announcing the program on Wednesday, FUEL founder and chairman Dr Ketan Deshpande said the production celebrates the eternal connection between devotion, tradition and traditional skills while giving the audience a spiritual journey of the Warkari tradition.Bala Devi Chandrashekar said the production depicts the lives and devotional songs of Warkari saints including Sant Dnyaneshwar, Sant Namdev, Sant Eknath, Sant Tukaram and Sant Janabai. “Wari is not just a journey but an inner spiritual journey that culminates in personal transformation. Through Bharatanatyam, we have tried to bring this timeless culture,” he said.The show will feature famous abhangs and bharuds like Sundar Te Dhyan, Roop Paahata Lochani and Khel Mandiyela Valavanti Ghai.Organizers of the organization said that the program combines cultural values ​​and social responsibility by using the program to support the education of underprivileged girls.
