Hollywood actor and talk show host Drew Barrymore is trading the luxury life for a simpler summer adventure. Just weeks after landing a buyer for her heavily renovated Westchester County home, the 51-year-old gave fans a glimpse of her new temporary abode, an RV.Barrymore shared a playful video on Instagram, where she danced around the camper in a baseball cap and flannel shirt while Enya’s Caribbean Blue played in the background.“Do I want to RV? Yes, yes. I’ll bring the string lights and the tea!!” he captioned the post.
A welcoming visit to your mobile home
The Charlie’s Angels star showed off the camper’s compact but comfortable interior, giving fans a tour of its modest comforts. The video showed a small kitchen equipped with a stove and sink. Fans also spotted a teapot from Barrymore’s Beautiful by Drew homewares collection, which initially rested in its box before appearing unpacked and taped to the wall, presumably to keep it safe while the vehicle is in motion.Barrymore also revealed the sleeping area, complete with pink bedding and a compact bathroom with a small sink and vanity mirror. She wrapped up the video by letting her hair down and taking a selfie inside the trailer, where an oven mitt could be seen hanging from a wall hook.Fans praised the actress in the comments section for her grounded and travel-related approach.
A new chapter after selling his rural sanctuary
Barrymore’s RV adventure comes shortly after her sprawling six-bedroom, nine-bathroom retreat in Harrison, Westchester County entered the final stages of being sold. The actress bought the historic 12-acre estate in 2024 for $4.4 million before listing it earlier this year for $4.99 million. The property, which dates back to the 1740s, quickly found a buyer and is currently up for sale. However, transforming the historic residence into her dream country getaway turned out to be much more difficult than expected.
The reform became a massive undertaking
Speaking previously about the project, Barrymore revealed that what he initially thought would be an aesthetic makeover turned into a complete structural renovation. The extensive work included replacing the home’s heating, plumbing and air conditioning systems, while the kitchen underwent a major redesign to create a brighter, more open living space, a process she said required nearly a year of engineering.Barrymore compared the experience to the classic movie The Money Pit, joking that the renovation reflected the struggles the movie’s owners face. While the project ultimately turned the historic estate into a serene family retreat, Barrymore explained that the lengthy renovation meant her family’s lifestyle had changed by the time it was completed. With their daughters’ increasingly busy schedules, the country getaway no longer suited their needs, prompting the decision to sell.Despite leaving the property, Barrymore has often said the renovation allowed her to indulge one of her greatest passions, interior design, and even chose to live in the house during parts of the restoration rather than wait for the work to be completed.
