Director Rajkumar Periyasamy has reacted strongly to rumors doing the rounds on social media about “Amara‘ and his upcoming film ‘OM’ starring Dhanush. Speculation claimed that ‘Amaran’ had undergone extensive shooting on the advice of the producer Kamal Haasan and that the filmmaker was shooting several scenes again for ‘OM’. As the claims gained traction online, Rajkumar he responded publicly, strongly denying the reports and calling out those spreading what he called false narratives.

Responding through an Instagram comment, Rajkumar Periyasamy dismissed all the allegations. He wrote: “WHAT DO YOU GAIN BY ALWAYS SETTING UP FALSE NARRATIVES? WHO IS TELLING YOU ALL THIS? THERE WAS NO RESHOOT! THESE CORRECTIONS WERE NOT GIVEN BY KAMAL HAASAN SIR.” He further praised the veteran actor-producer for trusting his vision, saying, “When he saw ‘Amaran’ once during the post-production phase, he had nothing but tears and words of gratitude. And as a producer, he gave me all the freedom to make the movie I wanted.” His response quickly went viral, with many fans backing the filmmaker to address the rumors head on.

The director defends the creative freedom and the effort behind the cinema

Rajkumar also expressed his disappointment at the repeated attempts to undermine a filmmaker’s work. “A director works for years to make a movie he envisioned. Most directors don’t get the credit they deserve, but it’s a shame to make it all look pointless when these narratives are pushed over and over again,” he wrote. “This is the third time I’ve seen your same statement and I chose to ignore it initially, but cheers to your fate,” he added, noting that this is not the first time such reports have surfaced. He also reminded critics that reshooting a film is neither simple nor haphazard, stressing that it requires a lot of planning, responsibility and money.
