Ever since Robert Pattinson last confirmed that the filming of “Batman 2” is all set and ready to begin, fans have been waiting for more updates. Amidst the wait, there has also been much debate about whether or not some of the familiar faces will be reprising their roles, which also includes Barry Keoghan.
Will Barry Keoghan reappear as the Joker in ‘Batman 2’ or not
Keoghan had last appeared in the 2022 “Batman” film in a small cameo, as the first film was about Batman going up against the Riddler to save Gotham City. Now, according to a new report shared by Box Office Pro France, the actor will soon reprise his role in the film. In what capacity it will appear is still something that has not been revealed yet.The report shared that the production company, which is behind the development of ‘Batman’ and ‘Batman 2’, confirmed the news during one of its presentations at the Studio Show, where production houses come to share their future projects. For the upcoming film, reports have suggested that the film’s main villain will fall on the infamous Victor Zsasz and would also feature the secret society of the Court of Owls, along with Harvey Dent.Keoghan appeared briefly at the end of the 2022 film after The Riddler was committed to Arkham Prison. The scene showed him in prison, making a new friend, who turned out to be Keoghan’s Joker. There have been predictions that the Joker could become the main focus of the potential third film in the franchise.

The actor, while talking about the opportunity in 2024, had shared that he would love to reprise the role if the opportunity arises. While appearing on the ‘Happy Sad Confused’ podcast, the Irish star had shared that: “It’s a big one, but I will say that if the opportunity presents itself, yes, I’d love to explore and if the opportunity comes, really dive in, but I haven’t been contacted, I haven’t heard anything.“Matt Reeves, who directed the first film, and is also handling the second, spoke to Digital Spy in an old interview about how much he liked Keoghan’s take on the Joker. At the time he had shared that: “Barry is a wonderful actor. He’s very, very special. One of the things we talked about a lot was the idea, that his worldview is shaped by being disfigured from birth. It was like a cruel joke that life was playing on him as well.“

As of now, the second installment of the series features Robert Pattinson, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Colin Farrell, Andy Serkis, Jeffrey Wright, Charles Dance, Jayme Lawson, Gil Perez-Abraham, Sebastian Koch and Brian Tyree Henry. ‘The Batman 2’ will be released on October 1, 2027.
