He looks back on it as a moment when his childhood wish to act alongside the superstar came true. When she heard that ‘Chatni’ would be returning to the screen, the singer was transported to one of the happiest times of her career; she had originally sung the song, “Kaise Bani Kaise Bani — The Chatni Song”, with Salman in “Dabangg 2” (2012). Doing it again for Ajay Devgn’s ‘Dhamaal 4’ was like revisiting a very treasured memory.

According to Mid-day, the singer expressed her excitement saying, “Very few people get the chance to remake their own song, and that too in another iconic franchise.” The opportunity came out of the blue, with Sharma sharing that the call came from Raj Chanana, Assistant Vice President, T Series. She revealed that composer Aditya Dev had reworked the song and hearing it again brought back memories. “I have been singing her on stage for so many years that she has become another Munni for me,” she said with a smile.

For Sharma, the song will forever be linked to Khan and the world of ‘Dabangg’. A few days after recording the ‘Dabangg 2’ track, he found himself filming it with the superstar, a moment that made his childhood dream come true. “The first posters I put up in my house were of Salman sir and Madhuri [Dixit Nene] Mrs. Then suddenly, in 2010, I was working with him. I still remember how he took my hand and turned me around during the song. I was so happy that even during breaks, my hand would stay in that position,” laughed the singer, who has several party numbers and a collaboration with lyricist Nikhat Khan. “Keep your dancing shoes ready,” he teased.
On ‘Dabangg’ and its legacy
‘Dabangg’ introduced fans to Chulbul Pandey, a bold and funny cop known for his style, humor and unique way of delivering justice. With great dialogues, strong acting and exciting action scenes, the movie became a huge hit. Its success led to two more films in the series: ‘Dabangg 2’ (2012), directed by Arbaaz Khan, and ‘Dabangg 3’ (2019), directed by Prabhu Deva.
