The preview event of ‘Idhayam Murali’ turned out to be a memorable evening as filmmaker Atlee shared candid thoughts about the film, its director Aakash Baskaran and his own filmmaking journey. The Atharvaa-starrer romantic entertainer is all set to hit the theaters on July 10 and has already created quite a buzz with its trailer. While wishing the entire team success, Atlee also reflected on a personal regret that has stayed with him since the release of his debut blockbuster ‘Raja Rani’, making his speech one of the highlights of the event.
Atlee opens up about her longtime regret
During his speech, Atlee admitted that he had always wanted to return to the romance genre, but never got the chance after his first film. “Wherever I go, people first talk about Raja Rani. After that, because of Thalapathy Vijaygot a chance to do ‘Theri’, ‘Mersal’ and ‘Bigil’. I’m grateful for that, but I’ve always had one regret: I couldn’t do another love story,” he said. The director revealed that this feeling was one of the reasons he wanted to back Idhayam Murali. “I even told Aakash that I wanted to produce this film. Somehow that didn’t happen, but after watching the full movie, I loved it,” he added.
Aakash and Atlee’s emotional connection behind the film
Praising debutant director Aakash Baskaran, Atlee described him as someone very close to his heart. “Aakash is like my own brother. I can never say no to him because he has helped me in so many ways. He is young but extremely responsible,” she said. Atlee revealed that the film is largely based on Aakash’s own life. “This is almost Aakash’s biopic. Anyone who knows him will understand that after watching the film. If you see Fahadh Faasil’s character, you only think of him like me,” he said with a smile. His comments drew loud applause from the audience and added to the excitement surrounding the film.
Atlee’s special praise for the cast and crew
Atlee also reserved special recognition for the young talent in ‘Idhayam Murali’. Talking about actress Kayadu Lohar, he said, “Kayadu, you are on another level. I really think you will be a National Crush soon.” He also said that he is a big fan of Parithabangal Sudhakar and added, “I am one of Sudhakar’s biggest fans.”With Atlee’s endorsement, positive trailer response and expectations built around Aakash Baskaran’s directorial debut, Idhayam Murali has become one of the most anticipated entertainers of the season. The film features Atharvaa, Preity Mukundhan, Kayadu Lohar, Thaman S, Natty, Fahadh Faasil and others. The film is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on July 10.
