Many Bollywood celebrities have lent a helping hand to charities and relief funds to ensure that the public gets the help they need. In 2019, during one of the flash floods in Mumbai, many celebrities came forward at that time to donate money to help people. Late Lata Mangeshkar had shared 11 lakhs with the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund at that time, while Aamir Khan had contributed 25 lakhs. The relief fund was used to provide shelter and food to families and individuals who had lost their homes during the floods.

When the world was facing one of the worst pandemics and everyone was in quarantine, Salman Khan used his foundation to lend a helping hand to those in need. When many salaried workers were out of work and without income to survive due to the pandemic, he donated money and transferred it directly to their accounts. Khan gave the money to about 25,000 daily wage workers.

In 2005, when the Mumbai floods claimed many lives, Hrithik Roshan was one of the many celebrities who lent a helping hand in times of crisis. The ‘Alpha’ actor had helped a girl who was drowning during the floods at that time. A couple of students had formed a human chain to reach their hostel; however, due to a wrong step, he had fallen into deep water. The actor had been nearby at Amitabh Bachchan’s house and helped the girl out of danger. The incident had come to light after one of the girls had posted about the same on X (formerly known as Twitter). The post read: “Ten feet from the hostel, a girl slipped out of our human chain and went underwater. Hrithik came out of Prateeksha and rescued her. A lesson that heroes don’t need the camera to act.”
