After more than three years of delay, Diljit Dosanjh‘Satluj’ has finally hit the OTT streaming platforms. After its release, the famous singer and actor got emotional and reflected on the hurdles they faced in getting the film approved and released. ‘Satluj’, earlier titled ‘Punjab ’95’, tells the story of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra.
Diljit Dosanjh talks about the launch of ‘Satluj’
On his Instagram account, the actor-singer spoke about the release of ‘Satluj’ and paid tribute to activist Jaswant Singh Khalra. He shared a clip from the film itself and wrote an emotional caption, sharing that, “Finally after 4 years of struggle… SATLUJ #Panjab95 is released on @zee5 Shaheed Jaswant Singh Khalra Ji Nu Lakh Lakh Parnaam.”He further wrote, “Mai Aksar Team Nu Pushda Rehnda C Ke Eh Film Kadey v Ni Augi? Asi Apni Kahani Nhi Das Sakde? Khalra Saab Di Avaaz Nu 1995 ch v Dabaa Dita Geya.. Te Aj V Ona Di Avaaz Nu Dabaa Rahe Aa.. Asi Kehay An Kithey Al Kithey Main B? Samaa Badluga film Ek Din Zarur Release Hougi SHUKAR SHUKAR BAS SHUKAR” (he used to ask constantly to the team: ‘Will this film ever come out?’Khalra Saab’s voice was deleted in 1995, and even today, the film is definitely going to be released.’In another interview, the actor shared how he was almost ready to walk away from the film if the cut version was released to the public. Dosanjh actively maintains live sessions on his account to communicate and connect with fans on a regular basis. During one of his recent live interviews, he shared that the film was not cut and that he was willing to pull out of the film and not promote it if any important scenes were cut. Director Honey Trehan had also previously confirmed this, writing in an Instagram post: “There has been no editing on this film and no compromises have been made to its original form.“
About ‘Satluj’
The story of ‘Satluj’ is based on the real life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra. Along with Dosanjh, who plays the lead role, the film also stars Arjun Rampal, Suvinder Vicky, Jagjeet Sandhu and Geetika Vidya Ohlyan. It is based on how Jaswant Singh Khalra was involved in the investigation of what had happened to about 25,000 people who had been marked as missing during the era of the Punjab insurgency. He was on his way to uncover the truth behind the missing people, their deaths and the involvement of the judiciary, and even made his information public. ‘Satluj’ is currently playing on Zee5.
