Imran Khan he’s talking honestly about manhood and what young guys see and feel today. In a recent podcast, he talked about why someone like Andrew Tate becomes so popular and said he was lucky to have good role models when he was young.
Imran Khan on Andrew Tate’s ‘simplistic male power fantasy’
In the Decoding Quirks podcast, Imran noted that many men grow up thinking that wealth, success and material success will guarantee happiness. When that promise falls short, they feel directionless, making them susceptible to those who claim to have all the answers. Speaking specifically about Andrew Tate and characters like him, Imran said: “In this, there are people who are subverting these men. Andrew Tate is possibly one of the most famous of these. But there are men like these who prey on vulnerable boys who are looking for male role models. They’re looking for direction, and that’s where these guys come in saying, I’ll tell you how. And they sell these men a simplistic male power fantasy. Strong, show women their place, and that’s how you become a man. And in that vulnerable space, young guys believe those narratives.”
Imran Khan credits his family as a positive influence
Imran further revealed that these ideas never appealed to him because he grew up surrounded by people who modeled something completely different. He credited his mother, along with the men in his family, including his uncle Aamir Khanto have a lasting influence on how he sees the world. He said: “I give credit to my mother and the men in my life, my father and my stepfather, my uncles Mansoor and Aamir. All these men were positive male influences in my life. They are men who, by themselves, respected women and they taught me the same. Not in a disparaging way, but in a real, fair and humane way.”
Imran Khan’s acting career
Aamir Khan’s nephew Imran entered Bollywood in 2008 with ‘Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na’ co-starring Genelia D’Souza. She appeared in films like ‘I Hate Luv Stories’, ‘Break Ke Baad’, ‘Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu’ and ‘Delhi Belly’, the latter of which remains one of her most popular works. After ‘Katti Batti’ in 2015, she stopped acting for a long period. In recent years, however, she’s made something of a comeback, staying in the public eye through candid interviews and social media posts. He also appeared in a cameo role Vir Das‘Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos’, a film produced by Aamir Khan.
Imran Khan’s Personal Life
On the personal front, Imran married his childhood sweetheart Avantika Malik in 2011, following their engagement the previous year. The couple has a daughter but decided to separate in 2019. He is currently in a relationship with Lekha Washington.
