Earlier in April 2025, reports surfaced about Akshay Kumar i Priyadarshan reuniting for the third time, after previously working in ‘Bhooth Bangla’ and ‘Haiwaan’. Ramesh Taurani’s Tips Films is producing the venture. Now, in a new update, it is being reported that the film has finally locked its title.
Why the titleWicked Sunny ‘ was chosen
According to Bollywood Hungama, the film has been titled ‘Wicked Sunny’. The makers feel that the title does full justice to the area of the film as well as its main character. Also, “Wicked Sunny” has strong recall value. It was the name of the theme song played during Akshay Kumar’s scenes in ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’ (2004). The theme remains extremely catchy and popular even 22 years after the film’s release. ‘Wicked Sunny’ will feature Akshay in a wacky comic avatar, distinctly different from the characters he has played in recent comedy capers like ‘Bhooth Bangla’ and ‘Welcome To The Jungle’. Fans will have a blast watching Akshay all. Also, the title will only increase the hype surrounding the film even more.

So far, Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan have teamed up in seven films: ‘Hera Pheri’ (2000), ‘Garam Masala’ (2005), ‘Bhagam Bhag’ (2006), ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ (2007), ‘De Dana Dan’ (2009), ‘Khatta Mee’ (2009) and ‘Khatta Mee’ (2008). Their upcoming film ‘Haiwaan’ will mark their eighth collaboration, with ‘Wicked Sunny’ being their ninth. ‘Haiwaan’, which also stars Saif Ali Khan, is slated to hit theaters on September 11, 2026.

According to a recent report by Mid-Day, ‘Wicked Sunny’ is a comedy thriller written by Priyadarshan alongside Rohan Shankar, the same duo behind ‘Bhooth Bangla’. The report also notes that filming is expected to begin this December.
