LaRoyce Hawkins is stepping away from the long-running police procedural ‘Chicago PD’ after more than a decade with the series. The actor, who has been a series regular since the show premiered in 2014, will depart during the upcoming 14th season.According to Deadline, Hawkins will return to the show in the first two or three episodes of season 14 to wrap up the story of his character Kevin Atwater before his departure. Hawkins has also played Atwater in several crossover events with the other police procedurals of the same network franchise.

Recent development of Kevin Atwater’s character

As part of Hank Voight’s Intelligence Unit, Atwater served alongside elite officers that recently included Adam Ruzek, Kim Burgess, Dante Torres and other members of the team. The character was described as handsome, honest and loyal, and fans often discussed his personal life and hoped he would find romantic fulfillment.Although Atwater previously approached serious relationships, nothing developed until episode 5 of season 13, when he reconnected with Officer Tasha Fox, a platonic friend from his past who became a romantic interest. However, the potential love connection faced immediate challenges when Tasha revealed that night that she would be moving to Miami for a new job in a week. Before Atwater woke up the next morning, she was gone, leaving behind an orange as a nod to her new home in the Sunshine State, with an open invitation for Atwater to join her.

<p>For the rest of the season, Atwater struggled to reach Tasha. He would start writing text messages expressing that he missed her but never send them. <!-- -->He struggled with what to say and whether to reach out, even though there was an undeniable pull between them. Later in episode 11, Fox returned to Chicago and showed up at Atwater’s door, revealing that she is pregnant with their first child.<!-- --> If Atwater ultimately decides to leave Chicago for Miami, it would align with recent developments in her character.<span class=
