‘Alpha’ makes an opening between Rs 7-8 crore

Going by the current trends reported by Sacnilk, early estimates suggest that Alpha is heading for an opening day collection of Rs 7-8 crore nett at the Indian box office. While the numbers indicate a modest start for a franchise film, there is room for spot bookings. Moreover, the positive reviews from the audience could also push the film beyond the expectations. The biggest question heading into the weekend is whether ‘Alpha’ can pull off a double-digit opening.

A crucial film for the YRF Spy Universe

‘Alpha’ is the first female-led action film in the YRF spy universe. Over the years, the cinematic universe has been expanding with blockbusters like ‘Ek Tha Tiger’, ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’, ‘War’ and ‘Pathaan’, led by salman khan, Hrithik Roshan i Shah Rukh Khanrespectively. However, ‘Alpha’ hit theaters after a relatively underwhelming performance by ‘War 2’, which has somewhat dampened the momentum of the otherwise successful spy franchise. The Hindi action film will enjoy a solo release this weekend, with minimal competition from the animated children’s film ‘Minions and Monsters’, the next installment in the ‘Minions’ spin-off franchise.
